Viren Hated Heights. Then He Jumped Off the Bridge.
There is a moment before a Bungy Jump when the experience stops being an idea.
You are standing on a bridge, looking down at the Nanaimo River 150 feet below, while every instinct in your body tells you not to step any closer to the edge.
That was the moment Viren faced at WildPlay Nanaimo.
He had booked the jump, made it onto the bridge and listened as the Jump Team guided him through what would happen. But understanding the process did not make stepping into open air feel natural - especially for someone terrified of heights.
And he did.
“I booked my jump and was scared, but the staff made it so easy for me to jump. I was scared initially but was so proud I did it. I’m terrified of heights, but I went Bungy Jumping and now I’m even considering skydiving!”
Viren did not wait for the fear to disappear. He stepped off the bridge while it was still there - and came away seeing himself differently.
One jump took him from wondering whether he could do it to wondering what he might try next.
Sometimes courage does not make you fearless.
Sometimes it simply changes what you believe you are capable of.
