Simon Needed Help. Now He Has a Goal.

Not every courageous story ends with someone completing the entire course.

Sometimes it begins with trying something difficult, reaching your limit and deciding the story is not over yet.

Simon visited WildPlay Nanaimo with his family for a day of fresh air, teamwork and challenges high in the trees.

He described it as:

“An amazing family outing that challenges you physically and mentally.”

His kids completed the course. Simon did not.

“The rope ladder got the best of me and I needed to be rescued out of the tree.”

With help from WildPlay team member Austin, Simon safely made it back to the ground—and still found a reason to laugh:

“Thanks Austin, I’m sure he’s half spider monkey.”

Needing assistance did not erase what Simon had already accomplished. It also did not take away from the day his family shared.

His kids finished the course and could not stop talking about the experience. Simon left with something of his own: a reason to return.

“We will be back. I’ve got a goal now and need to finish the course. I can’t leave something like that unfinished.”

Simon may not have finished that day, but his first attempt still counts. He climbed, found the point that challenged him and accepted help when he needed it.

The course got the best of him once—but Simon is already planning a rematch.
