Mitchell Was 67 - and He Wasn’t Staying on the Ground

Mitchell came to WildPlay with three generations of family.

The seven-year-old and Mitchell’s son-in-law took on the Kids Course. The rest of the family headed for the larger Adventure Course - including Mitchell and his wife, who were ready for a thrill of their own.

But there was one more detail Mitchell didn’t want to leave out…

“Did I mention I am 67 years old?”

It can be easy to assume that climbing through the trees belongs to the kids and grandkids. The adults stay below, hold the bags and take the photos.

Mitchell had other plans.

He and his wife spent around two and a half hours climbing, balancing and working through each challenge at their own pace, supported by a team they described as professional, patient and helpful.

Speed was never the point. Mitchell and his wife were up there participating alongside their family - not watching the experience happen from the ground.

And after two and a half hours in the trees, Mitchell was not ready to cross the experience off his list.

“Can’t wait til next year.”

At 67, Mitchell was not treating adventure as something he had aged out of. He was already planning the next one.

Adventure does not belong to the youngest or fastest person in the family. Sometimes it simply belongs to the person willing to climb up and give it a try.
