Monkido Tree Course Requirements

Ready for a completely new adventure? Here’s what you need to know before the fun begins...

Training Session

During this fun and interactive 30-minute intro, you'll be fitted into your harness and your guide will show you how to attach yourself to safety lines and zip lines. This training gives you the knowledge and guidelines to self-manage the simple equipment designed for your personal safety. You must demonstrate the ability to use the equipment properly before you can progress from the demonstration area. Once your tree guide deems that you can safely use your equipment, you'll be able to proceed onto a course.

lease note: for participants on the Kids' Course, guardians must also attend the training session in order to learn what to watch for when supervising children (don't worry, it's very straight forward).

Access Guidelines

  • Everyone must demonstrate the ability to use equipment before access to any course
  • Any person under 16 must be supervised by adult at a maximum adult/chaperone to youth/kid supervision ratio of 1:10 (1 adult/chaperone must also go into trees when group exceeds 10)*
  • Kids' Course Height: 7 to 13 years of age, must be able to reach 140cm (4'7") and must be supervised by an adult from the ground
  • Full Course Height: Guests must be able to reach 180cm (5'11") to do the full course (some age/supervision restrictions apply)

  • Maximum harness size is 45" waist and 26" legs (circumference)

*Groups with challenges meeting supervision ratios may have to arrange for visits at non-peak times in order for our staff to be able to assist with ratios.

Requirements

  • Long hair MUST be tied back. Ask a staff person for a hair band if you require one
  • We don't recommend open-toed shoes (sport sandals will work, but are not as good as shoes). Sturdy sport sandals/shoes/boots are required and to be worn securely
  • Strongly recommend no jewelry (especially necklaces or loose bracelets which could get caught in equipment)
  • Clothing should be appropriate for the weather and must be worn tight to avoid catching on apparatus
  • Trees make sap. Sap stains clothes. Dress appropriately
  • Completed waiver form (signed by parent or legal guardian for those under 19)

Safety Information

  • The Full Course must be done in rising order of difficulty every visit (green, blue, red then black)
  • You must remain attached to a cable at all times
  • You must observe all rules and safety instructions
  • You must demonstrate the ability to use the equipment before progressing beyond the training area
  • Our guides are empowered to immediately, without warning, exclude a participant from the course, without a refund for safety infractions
